Kevin Bocquet has been a journalist for 35 years. He spent 24 years at the BBC, most of that time as North of England correspondent, based in Manchester, working for radio and television. Among the stories he covered in that time were the Hillsborough disaster, the Strangeways prison siege, the IRA bomb explosions in Manchester and Warrington, the James Bulger and Harold Shipman murder cases, the Foot and Mouth emergency, and the Morecambe Bay cockling tragedy. Kevin also worked overseas for the BBC, in the United States and the Middle East, where he spent six weeks in Kuwait and Southern Iraq, covering the aftermath of the first Gulf War in 1991. For a short period in 1994, he was the BBCís acting Far East Correspondent, based in Hong Kong. Between 1994 and 2000, Kevin was a regular presenter of the Radio 4 ìPMî programme, and he has presented other Radio 4 programmes, including the topical media show The Message.
Since leaving the BBC, Kevin has continued to work as a regular freelance reporter on Radio 4 programmes. He also works in media training. His clients include Manchester Airport, Greater Manchester police, Cumbria police, United Utilities, Manchester City Council, and several health trusts and housing associations.
